Stereo Pika-tron DI

Here is a photo of the stereo Pikatron ÜP3096 (1:15) D.I. box we made. Such a simple and great sounding too for all kinds of different needs! Plus it gave me a reason to break out the plotter cutter. Pika! Pika!

Tiny Vintage Reverb Tanks

One thing I noticed when looking at spring tanks is most of the small units are plastic. I happened to find three of these all metal vintage 1970 ones. Not shown; I refoamed the center dampener and freshened the glue attaching the transformer cores/coils. Here is also a 1970 IC amplifier magazine clipping making reference to these tanks.

On a side note have you ever looked up the history and science behind the spring reverb?

UPDATE: I did fond a Local source of magnets with the correct polar pattern for DIY spring reverbs. (SM Magnetics)

Grass Click-Tone Control Audio Stimuli Module.

I recently picked up two of these Grass Instrument Co. Click-Tone Control modules. These units have 1994 date codes and still work. From my understanding these would be used to provide test subjects audio stimuli for studies involving things like rhythmic auditory–motor entrainment, but I want to try to get it to make some music. The port on the back of the unit allows you to remotely control the output. I am hoping I can make some sort of sequencer for it and experiment with some of the internals. After briefly looking at the board it appears to be based on a pair of XR 2206 IC Waveform generators.
