Complex Subjectivity

I love making art that has multiple views to it. This complexity allows for a wider range of interpretations. A prime example is some of my reactive resin artworks that look different in regular light, UV light and in the dark.

Reused burl for the base, resin, glow pigments, florescent paints
marble chunk base, coated in glow pigment/base then feathered strokes to make holes.

DIY Hydrophone

Smooth-Cast® 300 Hydrophone in metal body. Hooked to Cortado MKII & H4n Pro

I built myself a piezo hydrophone. The metal ring used was kept from a disassembled camera lens. I sealed around the edges to make a box before casting the whole thing into resin.

Resin Tip: If you have a lighter handy you can quickly brush the flame over the surface to pop the bubbles during initial casting to avoid the bubbles seen in the bottom photo.  😉  But in this case I did not have one handy before the resin setup. Far as I can tell keeping them does not hurt the hydrophones function since it’s active side faces outward.

Cassette Cable Fixed!

I have this modded cassette player that skipping steps for some reason. In the end I replaced the modded cable with some HQ console cable. It fixed the problem.

I really like finding cassettes with odd sounds on them. Like these odd background audio tapes and the ones found in really old telephone answering machine outgoing loop tapes.
